Abstract :
Background/Objective- As a result of Echinococcus granulosus, a parasitic tapeworm, hydatid cysts remain a significant global health issue. There are currently several chemotherapy agents available for treating this disease, such as albendazole and mebendazole. For improved therapeutic outcomes, these drugs need to be enhanced in their efficacy. In this review, nanoliposomal capsules are evaluated as a novel way to improve hydatid cyst treatment effectiveness using albendazole and mebendazole. Methods- Various studies and clinical trials related to nanoliposomal capsules for the treatment of hydatid cysts were reviewed in order to analyze existing findings. In vitro and in vivo assessments for albendazole and mebendazole were conducted based on an in-depth literature review on nanoliposomal delivery systems. Results- Albendazole and mebendazole bioavailability was increased substantially after nanoliposomal encapsulation, significantly improving absorption and distribution, thereby improving therapeutic efficacy. Nanoliposomal capsules were found to deliver prolonged release profiles of albendazole and mebendazole, ensuring sustained drug concentrations. As a result of this extended release pattern, prolonged therapeutic effects can be achieved, for that reason, it may be possible to reduce the frequency of administration in the treatment of hydatid cysts. Conclusion- Albendazole and mebendazole can be delivered more effectively using nanoliposomal capsules as carriers in the treatment of hydatid cysts. Further clinical investigations and application of this approach are possible as a result of these results.
