Dosimetric impact of inter-fraction changes of OARs during intensity-modulated radiation treatment of prostate cancer patients

Abstract :
This study aimed to evaluate the dosimetric effect of interfractional motion of OARs during treatment and to find a correlation between the delivered dose parameters and morphological shape of OARs in CBCT images. In this respect, 20 prostate cancer patients with 292 image-guided treatment sessions were included in this retrospective study. The treatment DVH parameters of organs at risk (OARs) based on daily CBCTs were compared to the criteria and the planning value. A comprehensive dosimetric analysis was performed on the data. Based on the results, a method was established to predict the OAR dose parameters at the planning stage.
