Abstract :
Abstract— Exposure to heavy metals bearing dust can pose health risk for the human. In this study, we assessed non-carcinogenic risk of five elements including arsenic (As), chromium (Cr), lead (Pb), nickel (Ni) and zinc (Zn) for the residents (adults and children groups) exposed to dust in Dargaz area. For this purpose, hazard quotient (HQ) and hazard index (HI) calculated based on USEPA method. HI levels for elements in the both groups were averaged Pb>Cr>As>Zn>Ni. The HI of Pb toxic element was in unacceptable level based on USEPA guideline (>1) in both groups. Dramatically, children were in more non-carcinogenic risk than adults' group.
